ABOUT THE ARTIST
Inspired by a well known verse in Spanish literature that compares Cuba and Puerto Rico to the wings of a single bird; the artistic duo of Puertorican and Cuban origins found a fitting and romantic id in their 2Alas (two wings) street art monicker.
Based in Miami with a shared studio in the Wynwood Arts District, Andrew Antonaccio (Puerto Rico) and Filio Galvez (Cuba) have been producing work together since 2010. Creating elegant murals with their linear halftone style 2Alas has positioned their work prominently in the Wynwood art scene. In 2012 the duo found themselves producing fine art work for the Fordistas Residence Program of the Ford Motor company and exhibits in the gallery setting. Later that year Antonaccio became the chief curator of the residency program that hosted a wide range of international artists such as 2501 (Jacopo Ceccarelli), JAZ (Franco Fasoli), Elian and Alexis Diaz among others.
